Family Literature Research
The last time we met, at our Early and Family Literacy Committee (EFL) meeting at the beginning of our meeting, we began off looking over our charge:
Stay on top of the latest research in the area of family and early literacy, and share the findings with the library community
*develop library staff with training on fundamental early literacy skills as well as practices
*coordinate and give advice to ALSC workgroups and committees on early literacy issues.

She is focused on reading and development of language in underserved communities (I am definitely following her work! ).

When they can, some EFL members try to visit local university libraries to download publications from university databases. However, not everyone is able to access a top-ranked university. This can be a challenge for library employees and their families.
This venting session did not stop there. Another participant suggested that authors and researchers reach out to each other directly to find out if they would like to share their research.
The committee also discussed the best ways to increase access to current research. These strategies are expected to be helpful as we move towards ensuring that ALSC members to have access to the information needed to help families, children, and loved ones however, we’d also like your comments.
